Woohoo. X10!!
Got me a new SS delivered today, thanks to Dave H for building it for
me...
Project plan was to find old parts and arrange to build up an SS.
Turns out a bought a 2nd hand track frame from my former LBS, wheels
from ebay, and swag of parts from Probikekit.
So basically I have a really noice indulgent SS. Inspired by many of
the bikes in fixedgeargallery
I also have a spare set of wheels which a can use if I want to go
fixed. (not yet game, (flame suit on))
I don't want to know how much it cost me, those $$ certainly add up.
Looking forward to my first real ride :-).

By the way I'm running 49/18 ~75ish inches

Very nice. Is that fresh paint? It looks pristine.

Those cranks look like mine (Sugino Super Mighty, which are Campy Record
copies).

Put the fixed wheel on you big girl. You'll never go back! I stopped trying
to coast in two days, tried to stop pedalling to bunny hop once in the first
week (you won't do that twice) and am almost cornering without fear of pedal
strike.

I've gone from 42/16 to 44/16, and I reckon 49/18 is closer to 73 than 75
(http://sheldonbrown.com/gears/ makes it easy)

Andrew.

So you're saying that SS is a gateway drug that leads into full blown fixie

**** I don't have a pen licence.

I did it arse about. I was riding fixed before I converted my mtb to ss.
Didn't make a lot of difference, since I don't ride the mtb much anyway :)

BTW PH, I've got a new one for the next FR - a newborn, so to speak.
