Hi,
Does anyone know of any groups that I can just turn up and ride with
along Beach Rd on Saturday/Sunday mornings starting between 6:00Am and
7:00Am that will keep an average speed of approx 22-30Kmh.
Port Melbourne to Frankston and back would be ideal.
Thanks!

Crikey - will there be fries with your order sir? ok.. only kidding... best
way to find out would be to ride the route at those times and pick out a
bunch... tag on, say hello.. if they are unfriendly then repeat this
process.. no shortage of groups along there
BR is always an option for you - on the money for times/days/speeds...
cheers.

You can turn up and ride with any bunch, no-one owns the road.
There'll
be dozens of them. 22-30 is pretty slow though. If you're not
familiar
with bunch riding then you want to stay out of the way of any bunches
that are rolling turns etc - ie: hang off the back of them a bit.

ditto:
6-7 is a tad early for Sunday, but 7:30 to 8 am better suited, if you
hang around Le Knicks/Kennedy's/Watts at the Black Rock roundabout on
Beach Road at that hour (7am to 7:30am on Sat) you'll find any number
of groups heading out , both going north and south......talk to them
and see what's what for you.
BUT- Don't mix up the massed 7am non-organised high intensity le tour
de Frankston from the clock tower on Saturday, you'll be "hellishly"
spat out the back within a 100meters.....
during the week there are a few cruisy "recovery" rides to Port
Melbourne from Black Rock too, be around the precinct at 8am monday wed
& fri mornings, and 5-30pm Tues & Thurs evenings.....av
24-26kph.....otherwise chat up riders on the road and see what gives to
suit you.
