I purchased a 2006 Trek 1200 in late August and I'm looking to replace
the stock Alex AT450 with a lighter and better set of wheels. Can
anyone recommed a good set of wheels that won't break the bank?

These should serve your purpose just fine. Shimano Ultegra hubs, Mavic Open
Pro rims, DT double-butted spokes. All for $200...

Thanks Chachi,

This may be a stupid question but how much better are Mavic Open
Pro/Ultegra rims compared to the Alex AT450's / Tiagra hubs? I'm new to
road bikes so I still have lots to read and learn.

Bontrager Race Lite 700c wheelset, with Ultegra 12-23 cassette.
Mileage unknown, but judging from the brake surface, I would estimate
less than 1000 miles. Round and true. Very good condition. $235 plus
shipping.

Front: Bontrager low flange sealed bearing hub, black, laced to 23mm
black eyeletted rim with 20 paired black bladed spokes.

Rear: Bontrager rear hub (labeled as Race Lite by DT Swiss), black,
laced to 21mm black eyeletted rim with 24 paired black bladed spokes.
Rear rim has offset spoke hole configuration resulting in a stronger
wheel.

Wheelset comes with Bontrager rim strips, Bontrager skewers, and
Ultegra 12-23 9 speed cassette. Cassette has a few hundred miles -
excellent condition.
