Need suggestions for beginners course. Anything from 3 days,
preferably during the week, with bike provided, anywhere in the UK.
September.

Really? Are there such things?
I can't help thinking a better way would be to find a mate who's a
mtb'er and head out with him/ her a few times. After a while you'll
know some of the basics, and pick it up from there. Second hand basic
bike (try ebay) shouldn't cost more than a couple of hundred quid.
<nostalgia about my first GT. It was bright red, weighed about 32lbs
and rode horribly>
