Erm. I think Cyclingnews' joke was even better.

But what's with those cheap Pinarello types not using internal top-tube
cable routing on what is presumably their fanciest frame?

Also, why don't they make up something marginally plausible for those
ribs? Here's me marketing this frame: "the ribs are a feature adopted
thanks to our cyclocross experience, and they enable the rider to get a
firmer grip ["grip, heh heh"] on the top-tube during dismounts
["dismounts, heh heh"].

Then add in the unbelievable marketing-speak after.

Speaking of frames, are you Americans getting the extensive doses of
Cervelo ads? Here's a question: anyone identified the "brand X" frame
that they break in the "curb test"? The bulbous head tube looks like it
should be quite distinctive.

Yes, the USA is getting what I consider to be an overdose of Cervelo
ads.
It appears that Cervelo must have been gambling VERY heavily on Basso
looking good and having their bikes look correspondingly good through
lots of on-camera time.
Undoubtedly we could aslo have expected to see the typical "Cervelo
congratulates Ivan Basso on his fabulous win in Stage
(fill-in-the-blank)" or "Ivan Basso wins using Cervelo." While their
ads may be effective just through sheer repetition (and maybe a little
marketting BS), I don't think they'll get anything near the
"gotta-have-one" effect that they were probably hoping for.

Call me skeptical but I'd also bet their "Brand X" frame it is NOT an
actual competing brand but a dummy frame set up for the ad effect (not
a real frame but plays one on TV). But I don't really know.

Well, I did see a guy out today in full CSC kit (incl. socks) on a Cervelo TT
bike. No, he wasn't going very fast.

Did he have a "Fun Ride" number pinned to his jersey too?

Believe me: I'm on their PR mailing list, and I have TOTALLY written to
Vroomen and White about this whole "selling your bikes to fattie
masters" thing. I suggested that they require a racing resume with all
purchases, or perhaps just a mandatory VAM test.

I got a response back that told me my email was important to them, so
I'm pretty sure we'll see some action on that front very soon.

Hmm, you mentioned being sick a day or so ago - is TLO mixing your Robitussin
cocktails a bit stiff? (heh)

This is what happens when people read my blog.

No, I can't remember my last drink (read that either way, I guess), but
I sure have been hitting the max-power Halls (three times the menthol of
regular Halls: don't tell WADA) pretty hard. Hacking cough, no lung
capacity, general boring cold symptoms. Basically it just means I spread
disease and can't race and I generally feel unpleasant.

If you are subject to kidney stones, do not undertake this
program. Get vitamin C capsules: the 500 mg gel capsules
of pure ascorbic acid. Take 500 mg each half hour with
water. If your gut starts to rumble reduce the dosage,
otherwise increase the dosage. Wait at least 15 minutes
between capsules. Titrate the dosage. You want to take as
much as possible without back chat from the gut. Usually
this regimen ameliorates symptoms and quickens full
recovery. Vitamin C is used by your system to kill
viruses.

Heat also kills viruses which is why keeping uncomfortably
warm hastens recovery. Drink water and the like.
