I'm looking for a budget racing bike for my son for his 12th
birthday. Within my budget all I've seen is a Halfords TCR 2 in small
which I know is an OK size for him as his brother has one, at £230.
That bike's OK, it works perfectly well, but I'd really like to get
something a bit different just so they don't have exactly the same.
Not only that but I've had experience of buying from Halfords and it's
not fun.

I've been offered a Giant SCR 4 at a LBS which looks good but it's
just a bit too expensive at £315. The one in the shop was the right
size but I foolishly didn't notice which size frame it was.

Tonight I've noticed that Wiggle are offering the Giant OCR 4 at £250
but they don't have all of the sizes - they've only got a "51" (cm I
guess). So at last the question: does anyone have an OCR 4 51cm which
they could measure for me? I really need to know the stand-over
height, the height of the top of the seat stem from the floor and the
minimum "reach" from the front of the seat to the handlebars.

I must admit that I'm making the assumption that the OCR and SCR
ranges have different frames and aren't simply the same frame with
different components - if that were the case I could simply find out
what size SCR we saw today and I'd be sorted - anyone know?

Thanks for your help,
Calvin

Assuming that it's a Giant's "Compact Road" frame (I'm guessing that that's
what the CR is in OCR).
Here's the bumph from the Giant web site, again I would guess that Wiggle
are using the conventional frame size of 51cm meaning that the actual
seattube would be 44cm (i.e. a Small), it would be 51cm for the same sized
bike if it didn't have a sloping top tube.

Thank you so much for that, it makes a lot more sense now I realise
that they're not quoting anything I could actually measure on the
bike! Looks like I may have found something suitable at last.
