Turn up for cheap tops, gloves and extras.

Sales days at Aldi can get a bit crowded though:

840 Old Kent Road is my nearest store from work.

Aldis on salesdays is extra stressful thoughbut:

The Wall Mounted Cycle Holder look good, might safe some space.

Is the bike light set
http://uk.aldi.com/special_buys/special_buys_pid_58013.html
any good? Anyone got experience with a previous model that might be
similar?

I might go for the luxury mincemeat at 99p.

I bought some overshoes this time lat year and they lasted 1 wearing before
the zip collapsed ( it went up the back of the heel. This years offering say
"new for 2007" so they might be better I will give them a try.

My 2 pairs of gloves from last autumn are still in good condition -- but we
didn't have a winter last year. I got 2 sets of mitts in the spring sale and
they are still going strong!

I had a winter windproof cycling jacket last year which was very good -- warm
and distinctly wind proof with a low sweat factor. It is still going strong!
it even got a good write up in the CTC mag. Don't know whether the ones this
years are the same.

The wall mounted bike rack has kept my bikes in safe hands ( together with a
couple of security devices) simple and easy to fit

LIDL's autumn offer were very poor this year!

Yes and I think that Mincemeat might add a tad to my Christmas baking which I
have just started

I'm not risking it, my Aldi overshoes didn't last much longer. I replaced
one zip but then the other one went.

I've had some other Lidl/Aldi bike light sets that have been very good, for
the money. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with that model
though. The only problem that I can see with it is that it requires two C
type batteries. Unless it's for occasional use, make sure that you've got a
charger that can deal with this type of battery.

Does anyone have experience of their Lightweight Cycling Rain Jacket or
Waterproof Cycling Trousers ?

I've had mixed success with Aldi cycling stuff, e.g. zip on cycling jersey
broke first time it was washed, but mitts have lasted > 2 years.

Best Regards.

Dave.

The trousers are waterproof. I've not cycled in them (commute's too short to
bother), but I do wear them at work, and they haven't dropped to bits yet.

What size bib tights will I need M or L? Can't get to shop in person.
I'm 6ft with 30" waist and buy long (34") casual trousers (but 33" would be
spot on)

If they are the same as the ones I got last year, the L legs will be
too short for you to get the loops round your feet, but will overlap
the motorcycling socks (and possibly this batch of cycling socks, but
will leave a gap at the ankle with their summer socks). Actually mine
might have been XL - I just tried to check, but the printing isn't
readable any more. I prefer them to the older not-bib trousers I have
though.

My waist is rather larger than yours though, and they are plenty big
enough for me, so, while it is fairly stretchy fabric, I suspect something
long enough for your legs will be at least slightly loose.
But I don't know if the L and M differ more in leg length or in waist,
or how consistent the sizing is (within batches, or from year to year).

Get one of each, and take the one(s) that don't fit back?

One vote for Med, one for Lrg it seems, I'll get both like you say.
Do they give you your cash back or have a silly credit note type policy?

Neither. They have a "you bought it, if there is something flawed with
it show us and get your money back, otherwise why should we pay you for
your wrong decision?"

Aldi have a 30 day refund policy - you don't have to give any reason for
returning the item back to the store and claiming back the money, as long
as you can show the receipt.

I'm not sure though if it also applies to underwear...

No_Ticks should apply to everything; check especially after encounters
with long grass and bracken.

One of my overshoes had a Achilles Zip, but at the price it's probably worth
trying the new version. I can always hope that it will be the left shoe
which fails this time :-)

I can't believe that, after all they don't have changing rooms.

Too late to be useful now, but it case it helps someone next time:
Large was labelled as 32-34" waist, XL as 38-40" waist, and they seemed
to be the same length. (There was one of each left in the shop when I got
there this morning, and no 9-11 overshoes.) (Most of my trousers are 36"
waist, but these days several of them do really need a belt, so I got the
Large. Haven't tried them on yet.)

I tried the 8-9 overshoes on my size 8 feet - looked too small so went
for the 10-11.
similarly the M gloves were definitely too small and I had to exchange
them for L and I'm not sure if even these aren't a bit tight ("will
loosen with wear, sir"? - AYBS).

I'm glad I went for the 10-11 overshoes for my size 9 shoes then. Haven't
tried them yet. I bought a pair of the L gloves and they seem to be ok (I'm
normally an L). I wanted to get a pair of bib trousers too, but they didn't
seem to have any - I wonder if this was peculiar just to my local one or
Aldi full stop.

As an aside, there was a chap who ran rampage through the cycling stuff and
literally filled his trolley with it (I presume his plan was to sell it on
via ebay) however, he got pulled up by the Aldi staff who stated that there
was "fair for all" policy in place and he was none to politely asked to put
a lot of it back!
