If you really want a lot of responses to your posting, word it in the
most dangerously controversial manner possible.

If you REALLY want a lot of replies, a simple flame or troll post will
do (guaranteed 1,000+ minimum thread lengths)

On topic or useful posts will only get you ten or so replies at best
(unless someone posts an off topic, flame or troll reply, of course :-3)

Any highly controversial subjects will get lots of responses. Examples
of such are, not in any order, helmets, chain lubes, bad suv drivers,
recumbents versus diamond frames, and wheel building.

SUV collides with cyclist, bike's pedals puncture SUV's crankcase, but
do a really excellent job of lubing his chain.....

Haven't you heard? Gee-Dub is the new Hitler.

Pretty lame excuse for an evil mastermind, too. I think he'd make a
better Carlos II.

That's an insult to those that suffer mandibular prognathism!

You'd hate it here, the Wally World parking lots are still full of un-
peanutbuttered W stickers. W is the new swastika, for sure.

"Democrats announce plans to enact mandatory bicycle helmet laws and to
greatly expand the nation's network of multi-use pathways. Republicans
respond with calls for tax breaks for people who purchase
diamond-studded bicycle frames."

I'm sorry, Mr. Chris;

I must cite you for improper use of the Subject Line (a misdemeanor), and in
addition;

I must also cite you for trying to incite a Usenet newsgroup riot. This is a
felony!

You will have your day in court.

Hm. A paid author writes a piece for a conservative think tank, and
Bill knows all he needs to know.

Why doesn't that surprise me?

January 19th 08, 10:05 PM
For me the real question is not wheter this is "OT" but:

"Whether Republicans could care less about environmental issues."
or
"Whether Republicans couldn't care less about environmental issues."

English is so difficult! What if such idiomatic expression were not
used for "all intensive purposes."

Fair point.

I'd assert that most Republicans COULD care less, just not a whole LOT
less, and I'm not really sure how, at that.

I didn't read the post you are referring to so I'm not taking a
position on it but in re: your reply-
"Paid author"? All authors get paid. People that write (anything,
political or not) without being paid are just Usenet users. <g>

Regards,
Bob Hunt

P.S.- I include myself in the"non-author" class.

That's actually not something that I /ever/ do. I wouldn't be
terribly shocked if that concept is foreign to you, but ... I don't
lie.

That computer died long ago. Just using Google these days.

> Said he plonked me, but just can't resist replying once

Untrue. It's never THAT you reply. It's WITH WHAT you reply.

> (How's that Magic Flying Prus, Brooksie? LOL )

Thanks for making my point.

One day, I'll understand what that's supposed to mean.

Or not.

> Besides, Bob, Neil is VERY sensitive about getting paid for things, so

I see you haven't lost your diplomacy either.

Yes, I'm still disabled, Bill, if that's the point your trying to
make.

That's sort of what "permanent disability" means.

I've never lied about /that/ either. Good thing, too. It takes any
perceived power away from the wicked ;-)

I just use Google. I do my best to ignore you, Bill, but ... at some
point, your incessant "BS" deserves comment. You might be astounded
at how /much/ "BS" I just let slide.

But that's what "impulse control" means ;-)

To Bob: the point is the source of the funds, and the stated intent/
mission of the folks writing the check. It should be pointed out.
That's pretty much a universal truth.
