Geoff,

Did you take any of those red memory sticks away with you.
Not needed back or anything but I'm suspicious of them.

Jean's machine reported that the BIOS settings for boot order had been changed
(this is of course the 'press Del to enter setup' bit! We stepped through it to
make sure that no USB options were in the sequence of places to boot from.

My machine today shows all my menus in italics! And I can't change them!
This might be due to plugging in one of these USB memory sticks or uninstalling
some other software. I shall have to delve in the registry a bit. I've tried
the "this looks like a virus bit" but not got any hits - but it still might be.

Bottom line: If you have any of those sticks leave them alone for the time being
as 'possible suspects'.



Brother's keeper. it is the 64-bitness of XP that stops the program working. I
tried the compatibility options with no success. It works OK on my XP.

Try Blue Nun next time. Its alcohol content is marginally lower than
Thunderbird.
