View Full Version : Rehabbing an injury

Greetings!

I've pretty much always ridden a mountain bike. No long trips, just 6-8
miles a day, except on weekends when I would try to get a 15 miler in at
least one day.

Had my knee cap removed some years ago because of a car accident. My
mountain bike would get the best of my knee every season for about a month.

So I found a used recumbent at a decent price. It's a Cannondale Easy
Rider. Mean while b/4 I could test it out or even had it in my possession,
I injured my darn knee, tearing some technical stuff inside, when I fell
off an equipment trailer at work. I've still never rode the darn thing,
bought because of price & what old reviews I could find.

The bug is setting in, but doc says no. Still off work as I write this. I
had to at least sit on the thing, to see how it felt.

Guess my question is. Are recumbents easier on the knees than a mountain
style bike?

Sure, I'll find out whenever I do get the go ahead. But, as I said......
I've got the itch, and wondering what I should try first when I do get the
green light.

Not really. If the range of motion of the knee is causing the
problems, you might get shorter cranks or a crank shortner from a
child tandem kit.

Since you will have a shorter level, pressure within the joint will
increase.

Thanks, didn't know there were such things. This just may be the ticket.
