This one beggars belief!

"Driver jailed for injuring officers in Bedfordshire

A banned driver has been jailed for injuring two police officers in
Bedfordshire while trying to escape in a car he knew was stolen.

At Luton Crown Court, Ben Moisey, 24, got 16 months and was banned
again from driving for two years.

He admitted handling a stolen car, dangerous driving while
disqualified and without insurance, two charges of assault on police
and criminal damage..."

"...The two police officers wanted to arrest Moisey, of Wesley Road,
Sandy, for criminal damage but were both injured when he mounted a
pavement and drove off at speed.

Prosecutor Claudette Elliott said: "Both officers received injuries
causing them to be off work for weeks and they have suffered
flashbacks from the incident." ..."

Not very serious then. Compare this to and animal rights campaigner 11
years for 'conspiracy to blackmail'.

Yet again, something beggers Doug's belieth.

He, after trawling the internet has found a motorist, who has been
given a sentance less than his white as snow art's mates.

We all must be told about this, as we must be made to believe taht his
art's mates are innocent freedom fighters who have never done any
wrong.

Do not forget that digging up granies, firebombing, etc are all OK in
the 'greater good'

Does being sent to prison count as escaping serious punishment nowadays, Doug?

Sounds like they all could do with some Gene Hunt justice. Would save
us all the expense of putting them up in prison.

It was sad to see the Quattro shot up last night.

Doug, what exactly 'beggared your belief'? The man injured 2 people and was
sent to prison for a year and a half accordingly. He has also been banned
from driving for 2 years. Would you prefer that he was shot?

No I would expect a much more serious penalty for someone who...

"He admitted handling a stolen car, dangerous driving while
disqualified and without insurance, two charges of assault on police
and criminal damage."

Still, its par for the course where so-called punishment of dangerous
drivers is concerned .

Handling stolen goods would not normally attract an immediate custodial
sentence except in cases of obvious recidivism. Even assault on police and
criminal damage are not automatically matters for which a prison term will be
doled out.

That leaves the actual driving offences, which must be what the custodial is for.

Eighteen months in prison is a fair old sentence. So is two years
disqualification on release.

What do you say should have been the punishment, out of interest?

Well given that 'conspiracy to blackmail' by an animal rights
campaigner, involving no theft or violence, invites an 11 year
sentence, someone who deliberately puts lives at risk with a car
weapon surely should be given at least something similar?

But of course, the harsh reality is that crimes committed on our roads
with an unlicenced car weapon are treated much more lightly than
similar crimes committed with other types of unlicenced weapons
elsewhere. Another astonishing fact from this case is the assault on
cops and committing criminal damage, which each would normally add
considerably to the sentence had it not happened on a road.

Seems if you are out to commit a crime these days best do it on a road
and with a car if you want to get off lightly if caught. Even better,
do it with false number plates, no witnesses, and do a runner. The
likelihood of getting caught then would be remote to say the least.

Premeditated over a long period of time, with threats.

Can you point me to the web site that advertises a car weapon, I would

One might easily agree with that - attempted murder - or murder itself - are
serious crimes, no matter whether the weapon is a knife, a gun, a block of
ice, a length of cord, a bomb or a motor vehicle.

But there is no mention of murder or attempted murder in the reports.

Has it been left out for any reason other than its not being relevant to the
case?

If I bought one of them, it would make driving round the Catford OWS

Brilliant. Problem is that these are 'licenced car weapons'. Doug is looking
for an 'unlicenced car weapon'. One day, he'll realise they don't exist!

Very few of those will be on UK plates, or - quite likely - any plates,
so they would fit Duhg's search criteria.

'course, as such, they'd be completely illegal to use.

There's already a national shortage. Still, Doug won't mind more being
imported from Taiwan or wherever, as long as they're for him.
