We are constantly told that cycling is hugely popular and that there are
thousands of cyclists. So this week I've been keeping 'em peeled.

I've driven all over the Medway Towns (pop 260,000) and kept my eyes
open for cyclists. I have of course seen thousands of cars.

But strangely in a week of (non motorway) driving I've only seen 7 cyclists.

Not as popular as it's claimed to be obviously. An insignificant minority.

Which you significantly go on about.
Why not treat them as insignificantly as they are the minority?
