If cars travel slower and stay stopped while idling then they put out
far more pollution than when they are rolling freely along. Restricting
the available road by putting in cycle lanes, slows the motor traffic
causing motor traffic to give out more pollution.
The number of cars in use will not decrease (by any significant or
probably even any measurable amount) by adding cycle lanes. Most
people do not want cycle lanes.

The general public do not want to travel by PT or bicycle.

No really.

"Hampstead is exceeding safety levels for pollution."

WHY IS THAT? JEEZ.

However, Cllr Lazzaro Pietragnoli questioned Ms Learmond-Criqui's approach to the problem.

He said: "I think you are addressing the right issue with the wrong strategy - the pollution in Hampstead is mostly caused by motor vehicles and you object to new cycle lanes which will reduce the no of motor vehicles.

NO KIDDING.

"You want essentially to prioritise private cars against over walking and cycling - why aren't you campaigning for restrictions against motorists instead of against the creation of new cycle lanes?"

YES, WHY?

Or maybe she should keep her mouth closed about stuff she doesn't really understand and reduce her own hot air emmissions.

I suspect that her real motive is that she drives a rather expensive and larger than necessary car a few miles every day and doesn't like the idea that she might be inconvenienced or horror of horrors feel obliged to walk, cycle or use public transport herself."

QUITE.

Only nutters - real nutters - are able to convince themselves that they
have a right (or a duty) to control the lives of others.

But the Usual Suspects have managed to convince themselves that they
have some sort of right to control the lives and choices of the general
public.
