How late in the year can you ride Mt. Evans?

I want to take a trip to CO sometime this fall and take a stab at Mt.
Evans. I am wondering how late in the season you can be assured
ridable weather? i.e., no snow storms, roads open, etc. I shouldn't
be deterred by cold or rain (within reasonable limits).

_ The problem in CO is when it rains, there's lightening and the top of
a mountain is a bad place to be... I'd say July and August are
probably the only "safe" months for planning a trip, and even
then snow up high is not out of the question. Late afternoon
thunderstorms are almost a daily occurance in July and August,
but all day storms are an extreme rarity. If you can be off
the high peaks by 2pm, then rain should not be a problem.

_ September and October are really variable from year to year.
In the past the road closed on Labor day, but is now open until
the first big snow.
