Earlier saw a woman cycling a 'bent or something very similar with a child
aboard.

The thing that struck me most was, from the fleeting glance, the woman on
the back seemed to be pedalling in a pretty upright posture, whereas the
child (5/6 y.o.) was mounted forward and pedalling the set in front. Or am
I just confused and they all look like this (never seen one in the flesh).

Anyone have an idea? Any pictures anywhere?

Sounds like a Hase Pino. Run a google search for pictures. I think they
cost a little over 2000 pounds.

NC.

I'm sure that was it. The front pedals (and child) were much higher than in
that picture but that was the layout.

Nice price...

Where did you see it? We've got one, and my wife sometimes takes the
back seat with my son on the front. We're in Crawley, W Sussex.

How I got my Pino, by Tim Hall aged 42 and a bit.

A few years back we got 500 quid following one of those building
society merger things.

Next day spent 500 quid on a s/h Dawes tandem.

This is very nice and we did more and more cycling, joined the Tandem
Club too.

However Mrs. Hall has a tender bum and despite suspension seat posts,
fiddling with bar height and so on, can't get comfortable and is
Unhappy. This is a Bad Thing and Something Must Be Done.

Mrs. Hall then sees an advert for a Pino in one of my comics. We must
have one she commands. I point out the price but she puts her foot
down with a firm hand and who am I to argue, so the deed is done.
