Greetings,

a few days ago I posted requesting help identifying the loser of a top notch
cylco-cross bike a young ne'erdowell was arrested whilst riding. I've had
no joy yet, and the bail to return date is getting close. I know that the
bike is stolen; as a keen cyclist I'm aware of how much such a bike would
cost, and how specialised (adjective, not company) the bike is, and want to
reunite the genuine owner with their steed. I really don't want to have to
hand it back to the suspect, so all help is appreciated. I know that if my
Audax or MTB were taken I'd be able to give the frame number and whole spec
down to the last cable, so such a bike must be have an genuine owner!

If anyone knows who might have owned or sold the bike, please get them to
contact me with all urgency.

The cycle is a Crosslight Pro cyclo-cross bike built upwith high range spec,
including Ultegra group set, Hope Disc hubs, Shimano SPD pedals, Avid
Cantis, etc. Somebody obviously put a lot of time and money into speccing
it, and the police would like to reunite it with the rightful owner.

If you are the owner, or know them, please get them to contact PC Spencer
Bullen at Hammersmith Police Station, on , or
0208-246-2531.

Many thanks,

Spencer Bullen PC 371FH

How about giving us the frame number? The rightful owner can then form a
queue outside Hammersmith station, and the lowlife doesn't get it back!

Seriously, I'm surprised that it hasn't been reported as stolen, even if
just to get a crime number for insurance purposes.

On a related subject, do the police check bike frames for drugs, nowadays?
When I lived in Liverpool over 20 years ago, that was a popular way for the
lowlife to transport them, and they never seemed to get caught....

Regards,

Pete.

Greetings,

not only do frames get checked for drugs, but a common use for a quick
release seatpost these days is to smash a car window to steal the contents.
If I stop a ne'erdowell on bike, I often unplug the seat to see if glass
falls out.

Trust me, if I could find any matching crime report, I would chase the
loser. Sadly, our IT system is barely even London wide, let alone national,
so until that time, I'm posting messages like this to request assistance.

I wish you the best of luck with reuniting the bike with its rightful owner.

I put a peice of paper inside a small plastic bag with my name and address
inside. It'd probably have slid right to the bottom if this one has one too.
Worth a quick doublecheck with a torch?

Appreciate your efforts ....
