Extension of Little Miami Scenic Trail

The Hamilton County Park District and several partnering agencies have
initiated projects that are underway or in various stages of planning and
design to extend the Little Miami Scenic Trail from Milford to Clear Creek
Park. There are also several related projects that are happening along the
Little Miami Scenic River.

The Little Miami Golf Center will receive major improvements during the
period 2004 through 2007. The entry road will be relocated to align with
Valley Ave, the parking lot will be expanded, the par 3 golf course will
be relocated, and the driving range will be expanded and improved.

Before the trail construction can begin the Metropolitan Sewer District
(MSD) must complete construction of the Wooster Pike Sanitary Sewer. It
will run from Route 32, through the Little Miami Golf Center, across the
Little Miami River and run west and east of Newtown Road.

Trail related work that is currently underway is the trail bridge
construction parallel to the Newtown Road Bridge. There will be two
bridges, one across the Little Miami River, and one across Dry Run
Creek. The bridges are scheduled to be complete by November 2004. This
project is being managed by the Ohio Department of Transportation. This
project also includes a portion of the MSD sewer line and a portion of a
water line being constructed for Greater Cincinnati Water Works.

The Park District will begin construction of a trail segment from Avoca to
Little Miami Golf Center following completion of the MSD sewer, currently
scheduled for mid summer 2004. This trail segment is scheduled to be
complete by in 2005.

The next trail segment that will be constructed will be from Little Miami
Golf Center to Clear Creek Park in Anderson Township.

Another trail segment scheduled for construction will be the portion from
Milford to Avoca, where the Park District will provide a trailhead. The
Ohio Department of Natural Resources is responsible for the construction
of this trail segment and is scheduled to start construction no sooner
than fall 2005.

The schedule for the trail segment from Clear Creek to Lunken Field is
unknown. The public agencies involved have not secured all the necessary
right of way.

The schedule of all the projects is subject to change. Project information
will be updated periodically when there is significant new information.
