So he rode the Tour. So what. If he was modest about it he had it right. It
is something to be modest about. All this hoopla about the Tour is total
insanity. It is disgusting the way some cyclists carry on about the g.d.
Tour. After all, it is a French thing and we all know what the French are
worth -traitors to Western Civilization.

What the French do best is stab others in the back. Any praise for the Tour
sickens me as does any reflection on the nation of France. They are a nation
of whores and were in bed with Sadaam Hussein. Please, spare me any crapolla
about the ****ing Tour.

Eugene Christophe. He wasn't disqualified, just given an extra time
penalty to add to the time he'd spent walking 14k to the blacksmith,
then repairing his forks at the forge.

It was his name on the superb springy toe clips that dominated the
market for decades.

H'mmm! I still have a pair of those. Was it actually his firm, or did he

I am laughing at your foolishness at thinking I would be stupid enough to
read anything a liberal like you would recommend to me.

You Brits have all been brainwashed by the BBC and the rest of your news
media. What else do I have to know? I do know that most of you on this
newsgroup (uk.rec.cycling)) do not deserve to have a great man like Tony
Blair as your PM. You deserve a Chirac.

The BBC is excellent for music (classical), but you never want to listen to
their analysis of the news. That is how empires are lost. You do not ever
want to lie with the French either - a fate worse than death. They are all
whores and will give you terrible diseases which will eat away at your groin
and rot your brain.

If any of you in the UK are starting to get the idea that we Americans do
not appreciate la belle France, then you are up to speed. However, if you
think that la belle France was ever right or moral about anything in the
past century or so, then it is back to the idiot bin with you. May you stay
there forever and not bother us Americans further with positive opinions on
la belle France.

My mind is made up on the matter and all the contrary reading references in
the world are not going to change it one bit. My mind is a steel bear trap
and it is CLOSED. It is impervious to treasonous liberal propaganda.

I do not need to keep reviewing unmitigated liberal rot and rubbish forever

Well, I think we know that McTavish is an asshole. Is there anything else we
need to know about him. I have an open mind on that, but I only want to hear
bad things about him. My mind is CLOSED to anything good about him. See how
easy it is to make up your mind.

Boy Ed,

You sure seem to have it in for the French. I don't think most Americans
hated them so much when they helped you win your war of indepenence from
Britain. But that was some time ago now wasn't it. We (in Canada) have our
own issues with the French. It's called French-Canadians. Even the French
don't like them. It's the main reason we want to decriminalize marijuana.

X, don't get me going on the French. My doctor has told me that I cannot
afford to get upset because of my high blood pressure. I am taking lots of
medication to keep it down, but every time I think of the French I can feel
it going up. I will blow a gasket if I am not careful.

The French only pretend to be civilized. They actually are not civilized at
all. No, I leave the g.d. French to the g.d. French. Let them sort
themselves out. I am done with them.

This is rich coming from and American. By most measures I am sure the
French are more civilised and cutured than Americans. They even have a
democratic electoralsystem and a love of liberty -- neither strong in the

Can we please eliminate the one of the remaining travesties the French
have imposed on the world - the French tire sizing system?

It is not that difficult to say ISO 622-mm and ISO 571-mm instead of
700C and 650C.

Strike a blow for logical consistency!

Well, the French were right about the weapons of mass destruction,
weren't they? And they were right about Vietnam, too, come to think of
it... Yes, great people, the French. A real understanding of diplomacy
and realpolitik. Also intelligent, thoughtful, cultured, artistic and
creative. They also know quite a bit about cycling. In summary, about
as different from Minnesotans as it is possible to get.

Realpolitik is perfectly acceptable. All nations do it. But it should never
be done at the expense of core values - and the French are always doing
precisely that. Sometimes the French are not much better than the Nazis.
What was Napoleon if not another Hitler. The French would liked to have done
what Hitler did (conquer Europe), but they were too feckless and screwed up
to manage it.

Did you not read my post where I said the French only pretend to be
civilized. They aren't of course. They have always been pigs and about on
the level of Nazi Germany. May the Devil take them!

By the way, did you not know that Minnesota is part of the Heartland of
America?

Simon sounds like a French name to me, so that would explain your lack of
discrimination. You ought to emigrate to that pig sty known as France. I am
sure the English would be glad to get rid of you. An Englishman who admires
and respects the French is a contradiction in terms. It is what is known as
an oxymoron.

Just to remind everyone, the French have never been right about anything -
ever! Even the French Revolution was all screwed up. The English managed to
reform their monarchy much better. The French are nothing but eternal ****
ups.

Anyone can look up the correct spelling of a place name if they so choose.
It is enough to spell English place names correctly. I am not ever going to
bother much with Asian languages, especially not for the kind of numskulls
that populate newsgroups.

The French deserved to get their asses kicked out of Vietnam, but South
Vietnam did not deserve to come under the Communist yoke. If the US had
showed a bit more staying power it would never have happened. Those who
think it was OK for North Vietnam to prevail have blood on their hands and
are despicable beyond measure.
