View Full Version : Parts for older SX-R fork

Folks, the diagnosis came back on my '01 ('02?) SX-R. The lower bushing on
the rebound damper assembly has failed, and it won't hold oil anymore.

I've put a new fork on my bike, but would love to find this little part, put
the old fork back together and be able to offer it to a good home for a few
$. When it was working right, it was an OK fork.

My LBS tells me Manitou doesn't stock the rebuild kit anymore, and they
can't get the part. My mechanic suggested I try to find one on the net,
hence my post here. Anybody know of a shop or outlet that specializes in
older model replacement parts? Or anybody got a defunct SX-R of that
approximate era they are willing to part out?

Thanks
Gary

Don't know where to find parts, but I've gotta say SX-R was one of the best
forks I've had. Smooth, light and didn't have to do squat to maintain it.
Also had SXs and I still ride a SX-ti on one of my bikes. I've seen whole
SX-Rs on ebay for $25 - 30. That's probably your best bet.

I have a 2000 SX LT that needs new Red MCU's and Connectors.
If anyone knows where I can get some, let me know.
Thanks
Chris

It's a little late since I just threw out about 50 red MCUs for those forks
along with some connectors since I was cleaning up while moving. I used to
work at Answer and after I left anytime I'd call warranty they'd mail me
bags full of that ****.

No rebound damper lower assembly bushings, huh?

Gary, how about using a big, fat, high volume tire and some body
motion. I think overall that will work better than your Manitou.

Although I do have fond memories of my Manitou SX-R. It was the only
suspension fork I've ever run. Never had an issue with it, until I
figured out I really didn't need it.

Peace,
Bill

Too late I'm afraid Bill, already got a 'Zoc as a replacement. Was hoping
to be able to pass this old fork along to an aspiring beginner, maybe
somebody with skinny tires ;-)
