The drivers stopped by police in Hull and East Yorkshire this week

Here is a look at of some of the vehicles stopped by the traffic cops in and around Hull this week...

On Tuesday police stopped a car after “wwo (SIC) trips round the roundabout� in Willerby and soon discovered the driver did not had insurance.

Humber Roads Police tweeted: “Following two trips round the roundabout on Kingston Road in Willerby we have a vehicle stopped.

“Driver found to have no insurance and 9 points on their licence. They've now been summonsed to court for the offence.�

The following day the force caught a driver, who already had 12 points on their licence, breaking the speed limit on the A1033 which runs between Hull and Withernsea.

Police tweeted: “You would think with 12 points on your licence already you would count yourself lucky you were not banned the first time and avoid attracting attention!

“66mph flying past others sticking to the limit. Summonsed to court..� Moments later they pulled over another vehicle on the same road, which was travelling at 66mph in a 40 zone.

Police noted vehicle speeds had increased following the easing of lockdown rules and tweeted: “Second vehicle within a couple of minutes of the last - 66mph in a 40.

“This driver on 9 points already - due to the speed/likelihood of a ban further court summons. “Vehicle speeds continue to be higher than normal since easing of lockdown restrictions.�

In another incident on Wednesday, Road Policing Units stopped a silver Renault in Goole. The driver insisted they had insurance from a previous vehicle but police checks found otherwise and the vehicle was seized.

Police tweeted: “Good evening from Hull. Early start this evening. This vehicle was spotted by divisional officers from Goole and stop by RPU. “Driver was adamant they had insurance from previous vehicle. However after checks vehicle was seized.�

On Thursday, the police found a car abandoned in Hall Road, north Hull.

Further checks showed the vehicle was without insurance and CCTV showed the car being driven earlier that evening. Police tweeted: “While on patrol this vehicle was located abandoned in a bus stop.

“Checks revealed vehicle had no insurance. CCTV had shown vehicle being driven earlier in the evening before being abandoned.�

And on Friday, a food delivery driver was stopped in Hedon Road in a hurry to get orders to customers. The vehicle was doing more than 80mph in a 40mph zone and had a bald tyre.

Police said it is not the first time they have noticed delivery drivers pushing the speed limits in recent weeks and tweeted: “Fast food. A1033, Hedon Road Friday evening - food delivery driver stopped in excess of 80mph in a 40mph zone....with a bald tyre!

“Due to higher demand on takeaways we are seeing delivery drivers pushing the speed limits."

Doesn't that all kind of just demonstrate that car drivers and
cyclists set up and face different consequences when they fail to obey
traffic law (i.e. they can't be compared as being equal to each
other)? Car driver's and cyclist's law breaking differ from each other
in terms of practicability and danger in capacity to harm others?

Yes, when it comes to law breaking, there is a difference in what
cyclists and drivers, in their respective machines, are capable of
doing, as well as the consequential damage.

Here's an interesting point, incidentally, it's reported that drivers
typically break the rules to save time - while many cyclists do so for
reasons of personal safety. Unfortunately for cyclists that doesn't
excuse behaviour that puts pedestrians in danger (such as riding on
pavements).
