He probably did.
Although he was in front of the lorry he was barely in front, and
therefore possibly in the lorry's blind spot.

It depends on whether the lorry driver knew the cyclist was there, you can't just drive into someone just because you think you have right of way.

The cyclist was in front of the Lorry. The Lorry driver could see a lot
of cyclists were on his inside at the lights. He tried to out accelerate
the cyclists as the road narrowed. I would ban him as dangerous.

If lorry drivers cannot see in front they should be more careful. They
should ban lorries which do not have a proper field of vision.

Yes I understand that. The Lorry driver could see that there were some
cyclists in the left hand lane. The road was narrowing and he was
effectively pulling in toward the curb. It doesn't take much skill to
realise the danger. That is why I think he should be banned.

There is no 'suggested' about it. The cyclists WERE in a left turn only lane.

Cyclist not showing sufficient situational awareness - he was doing the
old car driver trick of just following the one in front without looking.
If you use a left-turn-only lane to go straight (a bad idea in pretty
much any situation anyway) you really have to be prepared to out-run or
otherwise avoid anyone who might assume you weren't going straight on.
The issue of large vehicles with dangerously restricted visibility is a
separate one - in this situation the truck driver showed good awareness
and responded in the best way he could have to an invisible obstruction.
It would of course have been better if he had blind spot cameras, so he
could have sounded his horn before hitting the cyclist. :-)
