Emergency Vehicles: A Disgrace

One of the most despicable effects of the deliberate congestion-causing
now practised by many local authorities is the fact that emergency
vehicles are now being significantly and continuously hindered. The
fact that this *must* be costing many lives is as obvious to any
unblinkered, moderately intelligent person as it is with speed camera
policy. It doesn't matter how many motoring deterrent* lanes ("bus
lanes") are put in, the fact is that if normal traffic is being
deliberately delayed at every opportunity then "privileged" traffic will
also be delayed to one extent or another, and a few seconds can quite
easily make all the difference in an emergency. This effect is
amplified by red light cameras and the (C*apman-supported) refusal to
stop prosecuting motorists who carefully make way for emergency vehicles
at such junctions. Yet the car-haters' support for deliberate
congestion-causing is as fervent as ever.

It's this dogged and unwavering advocacy of anti-car measures, no matter
*what* side effects are identified, which shows how truly callous and
unreasonable the car-haters are. It doesn't matter to them if
unnecessary congestion, speed cameras, obstacles in the middle of the
road and all their other "achievements" against the motorist endanger
the lives of drivers and "innocent" non-drivers alike in a huge number
of different subtle and not-so-subtle ways. As long as the motorist is
getting it in as many ways as possible, they simply *don't care*.
They're not interested. It doesn't matter to them...*no* side effect is
so bad that they will even consider giving up their persecution of
drivers (we all know it's true). This lack of the slightest respect for
others, the relentless negativity and backwardness and the almost
constant dishonesty and sneakiness that the car-haters exhibit tells you
all you need to know about them.

--
* Simon Mason admitted that bus lanes are put in as a deterrent to
motoring, so if you want to take it out on someone for daring to tell it
how it is (Communists do like to censor those who expose their true
aims, don't they?) then it really should be him. And there we all were
genuinely thinking that deliberately keeping lots of perfectly good
roadspace empty 90% of the time wasn't an anti-motorist measure at all.

+ (Oh dear Nob...struggling once again to actually demonstrate which
specific part of the post is "crap"? Ah well, never mind, just use a
generalised slur and then refuse to be drawn into detail...you know, the
favourite tactic of you and your pathetic car-hating mates every time
you're beaten, which is of course very often.)

You're wrong on so very many levels, but the irony in all this is it's
often the cars which cause the injuries which need the emergency vehicles.

Remove the cars and there are fewer fatal road accidents and less
congestion to impede the arrival of the emergency services.

btw, I do own a car. I prefer to cycle. On a bicycle congestion is
rarely any impediment.

Ambulances and other emergency vehicles are more likely to be
attending people who become ill or are injured in the home or at work
than RT accidents. So don't automatically blame the motorist. It might
be a drunken cyclist who has fallen off his bike.

Where exactly are motorists being fined for entering bus or cycle
lanes to let emergency vehicles through, so I can avoid doing so in
those areas? Sounds like a typical TfL or local government tactic for
generating revenue to me!
