Cyclist convicted of attempted rape of dog walker at 8am
 

The victim, a woman aged in her 50s, was approached by hooded Begley
near trees and a car park off Firs Road, Ashton-on-Mersey, early on
March 16.
He was on a silver bicycle at the time.
A court heard he dragged her to the ground and covered her mouth.
Screaming out for help, she repeatedly tried to fight him off but was
dragged behind a building nearby.

He then ripped at her clothes and started to sexually assault and bite her.

A fellow dog walker passing by heard her screams and ran to her aid.
Begley, from Sale, rode off on his bike in the direction of Harboro Road.

He was apprehended and arrested by police a short distance away on
Charleston Close.
Begley was charged with attempted rape and sexual assault.
