Opinions on Speedplay X-5?
I need a pair of Speedplay X-series pedals for a new bike. Hoping to
save a few bucks, I've been looking for a used set of X2's but I've been surprised at the high prices these pedals seem to command in the used market, so I've begun to consider the new X-5 pedals. Anyone have an opinion on these? Have the durability issues that seem to have plagued the X3's been resolved in this design? Are the X-5's innards any different from the X-2's? |

The mani problem with X-3 were the off shore 'puck' and the lack of compatibility and durability. Why SP did was make a X series with a chrom-moly spindle, instead of a stainless steel one, ala the Zero, leaving the 'puck' the same as all other X-series. Great way to get great pedal at less money. Better bearings, no less spindle durability, just black instead of silver.
