They just evicted a group of "mothers" from a home in West Oakland this morning. An Oregon based company (I believe) had bought a wreck and intended to rebuild it and sell it. These people calling themselves "mothers" moved in and then having seized control of it attempted to negotiate a sale for far below what the refurbished home would be worth. When the women (none of whom was a mother) were evicted, there was a crowd of "neighbors" around booing the Sheriffs and chanting mob rule slogans. They didn't seem to realize that under their own desires they could go to work in the morning and come how to discover that someone else had moved into their homes. |
