What was apparent to me from the aerial photo of the scene right after
it occurred, made clear to me that sheriff patrol officer fell asleep
at the wheel by the position of the car on the left embankment and the
gentleness of the curve of this wide well paved double striped road.

Beside that, witnesses said the officer got out of the car ans said it
was awful, the end of his life an career because he fell asleep, his
own words.

I find that supervisor at fault for putting the deputy back on the
road after a 12.5 hour shift the day before and with the change to
daylight savings time was additionally off norm with his sleep. That
was an irresponsible decision as I see it.

Yes, that was all pretty clear in the reporting of the crash. But I
would also have some questions about the hiring and duty assignment
decisions that placed a person in a patrol car who had previously
exhibited such a cavalier attitude toward safe driving.
