Mountain biker rescued near Starr Pass Resort

A man mountain biking on a trail near a west side resort was injured after he crashed Thursday evening.

A jogger found the injured cyclist and called 911 at 6:38 p.m., said Capt. Barrett Baker, a Tucson Fire Department

spokesman.

The trail was near JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa at 3800 W. Starr Pass Blvd.

The jogger met the fire department's technical rescue team at the entrance of the trailhead and led the team to the injured man, said Baker.

The cyclist, who is in his 40s, had leg injuries and was treated by paramedics before being carried out of the rough terrain by firefighters.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment, Baker said.
