Stripped jerseys
I just heard on France2 that Zabel's green jersey for 1996 will be erased by
ASO in their history due to the doping admission. I wondered where a promoter of a UCI race arrogates the power to revise the final standings of an approved race. It seems that if one looks, in the future, to see who did what, then the only official records are UCI, as they may decide to annotate, but not that of the promoter. This rewriting of history is getting really silly. But it must be admitted that politically correct originates here, so I guess the outcome is in evolution. -- Sandy Verneuil-sur-Seine ******* La vie, c'est comme une bicyclette, il faut avancer pour ne pas perdre l'équilibre. -- Einstein, A. |

So, which is the better launch for a rant; Stalinist photo editing to remove the offender or the ancient Pharoah having the heretic's name chiselled from the monuments? Hell, let's just go with both and point out that both Stalin and the Pharoah look silly now. Ron |

If they're all dopers, the record books must be wiped clean from the moment they all signed the loyalty oath and pledged a year's salary to the War on Doping. Wait a minute-- some didn't sign, and some didn't admit to past sins and crimes. Well, let this be a lesson for any who are thinking about coming clean (so to speak): "It's gonna cost you". ASO only strips jerseys from non-Frenchmen.

Wow, a little touchy there, Sandy. Is it not true that Virenque
doped? And is it not true that it doesn't matter to the majority of French fans that he doped, that he's still considered a hero of Le Tour? C'est vrai. ~bob s.
