This was a much tougher Tour than usual and yet the speeds of the peloton were pretty damned high. The Roubaix stage had two more pave' sections than the actual Paris-Roubaix if I understood them correctly. The number of crashes indicated the very high average speeds and they were carrying huge gears for the most part. Some of those TT bikes looked like they had 60 tooth rings mounted!

I have discovered that if you can turn the gear over on a climb that the biggest gear you can carry usually works out the best since you get to the top faster even if you are slow on climbs.

Maybe it's just me, but I found Paul Sherwen to be somewhat
annoying this year. He seemed to contradict Phil a lot, and often
be wrong in his remarks.
