Larry Varney is a censor at BROL

Larry Varney is a big liar. Larry Varney claims there is no censorship at
BROL when in fact Larry and his censorship cronies control free speech every
day at BROL.

Where are all the Johnny NoCom threads that you deleted Larry Varney? The
public wants to know where all those posts went Larry.

You have proved once again Larry Varney that you and your BROL cronies are
all LLCB.

"Where are all the Johnny NoCom threads that you deleted?"

Admiration is swelling!!! Can you do that here on ARBR, or block
crossposting in general Larry? BROL does not work here.

LLCB?
You will find that BROL is not a public Internet site at all. I believe
BROL is owned-or at least the resources are funded-by private
individuals. They have every right to manage their site's content
however they please or in accordance their business practices. If Mr
Varney pulled some posts from BROL, he probably had a good reason. It's
his business.

The concept of free speech on the Web is a myth. Unmoderated newsgroups
like ARBR are the public's truly open communications platforms. AFAIK,
censorship is not possible on Usenet.

I never said there was no censorship on BROL. Read what I write, OK? There
are guidelines, examples of which I have mentioned several times. If people
want to violate those guidelines - such as by engaging in personal attacks,
using obscenities, and so on, those posts will not be tolerated. It doesn't
matter who the posts come from, whether it be "real" people or gutless cowards
who hide behind the "Johnny NoCom" mask.
And, just to make things clear: I have not deleted any "Johnny NoCom
threads". None. Zero. Period.

There are moderated newsgroups on Usenet. but from what I've seen they are
slow, clunky, and require a lot of the moderator's time. They don't seem to
overly popular.

bogiesan is correct. The Brol message board is private property. Bryan
Ball manages it (most likely owns it) and can do with it as he wishes.
Posters post there at his will and pleasure. He has every right to censor
messages, delete them, or ban anyone he wishes. Or delegate Larry Varney to
do it for him. If you don't like the way he does it you can appeal to him,
set up your own message board where you make the rules, or post to Usenet.
Keep in mind setting up and operating your own message board takes time,
effort, and money. The risings and sinkings of MI probably has something to
do with those factors.

Complaining about Usenet makes about as much sense and is about as effective
as howling at the moon. When Al Gore invented the Internet he also set up
with Usenet with no controlling legal authority. But fortunately most
Usenet newsreaders have tools to filter out Usenet content that bother you.
Complainers would be better served configuring their newsreader filters or
looking for a moderated board more to their liking rather than continuing
their complaining about how Usenet should be.

The best bet is to know yourself well enough to know what you are looking
for, when to lurk, and when to join in. And then act on those preferences
and be happy.

After watching ARBR degenerate over the last year or so, I think we
NEED a moderated board so that those of us who want to talk about
recumbent bicycles don't have to put up with the BS found here.

I think we need a moditerated group to keep the tight assed buzz kills away.

Moderated recumbutt sites are for idiots that ride slow heavy crap like the
numbnuts over at BROL better known as Bent Rejects On Lithium. Idiots that
cry like a baby for a recumbent moderator better wise up. Either get a splitterplate
street luge or get the hell off the road.

There are 2 recumbent styles in the universe. FAST or slow. The only recumbents
worthy to be on the road are the FAST ones. The speed gods hate all the other
slow junk out there.
