While my ribs are healing

While my ribs are healing from a night crash I thought I'd try out some
design software on my pedal powered ideas. Alibre has a free download. I'm
not sure the free version is 3D. It's rather complicated and slowing my
progress. Solidworks costs a minimum of $4000 unless you're a student. Guess
I should stick with pencil drawings. It's going to be rough going.

You can get a nice drawing tool set at a pawn shop for no money at all.
The back side of half your mail is blank paper.

If you switch to production airliners, invest in a CAD program.

Greens,
I haven't tried this, but it's free, and says it's 3D.

I use Alibre. Get ready to spend quite a bit of time learning the
software. It will actually generate CNC code, so, unless you're
feeding a controller, you'll have more than you really need. Also,
it's a disk hog and needs quite a bit of processor & memory to run.

Suggestion: AutoCad has a "lite" drawing package that'll do most of
the usual stuff and won't make you buy a new computer. It's not fully
3D, but then, blueprints aren't either. I would encourage you to
start on an easier package. Alibre is a monster.

Does sketchup have some standard gears, chains and so forth? I want to draw
up a pedal powered walker.
