OK, so how does all this work out?

Specialized is American but the frame and technology is Chinese manufactured, I take it. Does that make it a Chinese bike because of the "framebuilder" argument?

And will it be much more expensive now with the US and EU tariffs? Or are they actually made in Taiwan so it dodges all this?

PS. My ordinary system is down due to the extreme heat during which I can't run the projector. Let's see how this post ends up, being send thru the Google Groups interface. Which I don't care for but it can be interesting to try out once or twice for the novelty of it.

As you say, Specialized is an American company that is partly owned by
a Taiwan company. You'll need Jay or someone like him to review the
regulations as it depends on how the law is written. I have seen
instances where parts were imported into a second country and
assembled there whereupon they became "manufactured" by the second
country and enjoyed special import allowances due country 2 being a
favored trading partner with the U.S.

Or to put it another way, you'll have to wait and see :-)
