Default The _Observer_ on "deadly" bike lanes

Round here, (Queensbury, Brent, but close to Barnet, Harrow and London
NW9 frontiers) cycling is very much a minority activity. Cyclists are
seldom given the road space they need let alone any (un)common courtesy.
Car ownership & use are high and few kids walk to school.

The Local Authorities valiantly try to buck the traffic trend and are
met with hostility.

I wish we could do something to change the culture but the local
residents have not cycled as kids. The girls and women never ride bikes.
Cars are seen as liberation...
