I Have seen the BMX shoes in some specialist BMX shops and they seem to be really chunky and more for fashion than for serious riding.
I must admit they are some of the comfy shoes you can buy as they tend to be really padded inside but I think they will take a lot longer to dry than tennis shoes would. The lining is so thick so if you got it wet it would take a session on the radiator to dry off.
They are nice shoes but for serious riding I would definitely recommend the clip shoes I'm afraid.
