The reason I'm getting a manual hybrid is the nature of the hybrid.

Perhaps you were 'away' from the motoring scene during the time
these improvements became available to the public.

I don;t beleive so, as early as 2004, I was driving an auto that could
beat a manual. I didn't like it at all though.
