Default Pavement cyclist killed

Reported earlier a cyclist killed near Cambridge and it appears that he
was on the pavement at the time the car hit him:

"Driver arrested after cyclist dies in crash

A CYCLIST died today (Friday, 03 November) after a collision with two
vehicles in Cottenham.

Emergency crews were called to Histon Road at 7.18am to find one vehicle
on its side and a cyclist with severe injuries.

The cyclist, who has not yet been identified, died at the scene despite
the efforts of ambulance crews.

It is believed the victim, thought to be in his 40s, was cycling on the
pavement when the collision took place.

A 22-year-old man from the Ely area has been arrested on suspicion of
causing death by dangerous driving.

He is now in custody at Parkside police station.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were sent to the scene and roads were
closed and diversions put in place.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area or expect delays.

Histon Road is expected to be closed for some time.

Sgt Stonebridge said: "We are appealing for any witnesses, who have not
already come forward, who may have seen the vehicles or cyclist in the
moments leading up to the incident or the incident itself.

"Any information, no matter how small, could prove vital in determining
what happened.""
