None of this really matters as regards which pedals you're going to prefer.

speedplay is lighter
and has more float, but seems like a lot of pros are going the dura
ace route. why would you pick dura ace over the lighter speedplays???

Pros mostly ride what they get paid to ride. If the team negotiates a
contract with Shimano to ride Shimano pedals, that's what they ride.
CSC contracted with Speedplays, and that's what they rode. Didn't
slow down Tyler Hamilton any.

What matters is whether you like the very wide and very free
rotational float available on the Speedplays. Some people like it,
some people hate it.
