It was a left cross, the number one killer of motorcyclists in the US,
and the number 2 killer of bicyclists. The most common cause of the
left cross is "I didn't see her/him", or bad visual processing. The
way to prevent that is to have a bicyclist/motorcyclist as part of the
test drive for license testing, if the driver sees the bicycle/
motorcycle then they pass, if they cut the rider off then they get a
permanent ban and never get to drive again for the rest of their
lives. The logic behind this is that if they can't see a cyclist when
being tested when they know the slightest mistake will leave than
unable to drive themselves home, then they won't ever see a cyclist
until he/she is bouncing off the windshield or fenders.
