Well, JIS is sorta more like a general suggestion and
doesn't apply to everything. Regarding bicycle hub cones, as
concurrently discussed here, Sunshine Gyromaster and Shimano
Dura Ace 7300 series are notable outliers of cones which fit
no other product before or since and both were made/sold in
high volume.
