Also why would you have a disk brake on the front and V brakes on the
rear? Has it got something to do with it being fixed gear?


Most of the stopping is done by the front brake, and, indeed, the
harder you stop, the less work gets done by the back. So if you're
going to have one brake more powerful than the other it makes sense to
put it on the front.
