Today I nurse-walked to the church. I left at 10:31 and arrived at
10:41.

But ten years ago, I could do it just walking.

Thirteen minutes to walk to church this morning. I was surprised that
the return trip was only seventeen minutes; I had stopped to take
notes on a bicycle that was leaning against a chain-link fence.

I saw a cable lock looped around a handlebar, and wondered why the
rider hadn't used it. On closer inspection, it was looped through two
wires of the fence -- just one yard from a nice solid post.

Then, while measuring the distance, I noticed that the lock wasn't
secured to the bike, just looped around the handlebar.

I was sorely tempted to lift the cable over the cup holder, but, being
a civilized person, I did not touch anything.
