It's been ages since I did metalwork, but from what I can remember, it's
possible to get threads "re-done"

Basically I was given an old shock-pump which works very well, but the
threads are very slightly cross-threaded and it takes ages to get the top on
and I feel that I am damaging the head of my suspension fork.

Anyone got any ideas.
