When a cyclist (on his bike) collides with a parked motor vehicle, or a
wall, or a lamp-post or other item of street furniture, there can really
only be one cause of the incident.

It's the same when a driver collides with one of those stationary objects.

I believe that part of the difference is that cyclists are the only road
users that travel with their arse higher than their head, human
physiology means that keeping your eys looking toward the horizon is
incredibly difficult, combined with the physical effort involved in
keeping the bike moving, means that it is a natural human reaction to
relax the neck and allow the head to move downward and hence the field
of vision to go down, leading to cyclists on racing bikes to plough into
other objects including pedeatrians. The bicycles in such collisions
are invariably (any examples of other more upright types, anyone?)
racing type bicycles.
