Less bad, in the sense that if the incident had happened two days before
the race rather than two days after, she wouldn't have won any medals at
all.

If it makes no difference at all (as sensible people might suspect),
what is the relevance of the medal?


Human interest? Polishing the story? Who knows. It's like the reports of
people being mugged "for just 80p in their purse" like that makes it
worse; if it had been £250 would the same report say "fair play to the
mugger, it was worth it."?
