I normally ride a crappy old road bike (40yo design? and it's very very
sick at the moment and I need to get my hands on a 7-speed rear
derailleur) so I don't know very much about freewheel hubs (I am
assuming the Ultegra is a freewheel?).

well good free roller, Reliable hub, Price not important as I have had my
ultegra hubs 10 years that make them 6 dollars a year each. and I guess
now a cartridge bearing

Not knowing much about whats required for road bikes - I have bought
wheel sets from the UK at very reasonable prices - at Chain Reaction.

I have chosen my rims and hubs and they have built them up. Presently
have Hope hubs and Mavic rims for my MTB. I have had no problems with
the Mavic rims - if someone wants to bag them, it was my choice.

I think if you buy a certain amount from them postage is free and you
don't pay VAT.

I bought a set of Marzocchi forks at half the best Australian price.

Even Shimano gear is well under the Australian price.
