Default Elderly man critically ill in hospital after being struck by cyclist

There seems too be a lot of careless road crossers out there.

An elderly man is fighting for his life after being knocked down by a cyclist.

Police were called to Bow Road in Tower Hamlets to reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a pedestrian. The man, aged in his 70s, was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Officers from Met Police are now attempting to contact members of his family.

The cyclist did not stop at the scene, near to Thames Magistrates Court, following the collision at just after 5pm on Friday.

Police confirmed detectives are investigating and said the man was critically ill in hospital.

A spokesman said: "The pedestrian was treated by London Ambulance Service at the scene before being taken to hospital. "Police are attempting to inform next of kin.

"The rider of the bicycle did not stop at the scene. Enquiries to locate this person are ongoing."

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are asking any witnesses, or those with dash cam footage, to call 208 597 4874, or 101 with the reference number CAD 5779/3 July.
