A video released by Cheshire police shows the safety of cyclists being put at risk by drivers on the county's roads.

The force shared the footage on social media to highlight the potential dangers of overtaking cyclists. Vehicles can be seen getting too close to cyclists, pulling out in front of them at junctions and overtaking on bends.

The Highway Code states that motorists should 'give motorcyclists, cyclists and horse riders at least as much room as you would when overtaking a car', and only overtake when it is safe and legal to do so. The post on Cheshire police's Facebook page reads: "WATCH the moment that the safety of these cyclists is put at risk by other road users in Cheshire.

"Being overtaken by a car can be stressful.

"Only overtake if it will not compromise the safety of the cyclist or other road users. Careless driving kills #Fatal5 #ThinkCyclist
