This is interesting, received today via the Glasgow GoBike group.

I've not been injured using one, the argument is that I don't wish to be
foreced to use one as it will make my journey longer, slower and more prone
to p*nct*res. I will also often be travelling at 20mph+ on a route shared
with peds.
