Stars and Stripes by nearly 10 seconds. With a time of 4:25.83, such a
dominant performance by a group of young men all under the age of 21
bodes well for the future of American track cycling."

If they were to knock 10 seconds off that time, they would still place
behind the Koreans at Worlds.

And that's about a million miles away from a medal in that event. I'm
guessing they would be close to getting lapped by the riders the US had
in the mid 1990s, the only group to produce medals.

Compare this year's times to what was going on over a decade ago at
an outdoor track.

Granted the team pursuit seems to be targeted for elimination. And
granted those are all young guys. But the distance between a 4:25 and
relevance is large.
