The latest research is that the Covid-19 is a stable virus so it is in
all likelihood a one shot wonder. It is NOT dangerous to people under
60 without underlying health problems so why is the world shutting
down for it?

It is false to state that it is not dangerous to people under 60 and it
is false to state that it is not dangerous to people without underlying
preexisting health conditions. That is why the world is "shutting down"
for it. At this point there are 675,691 confirmed cases per Johns
Hopkins; since that is only people who have been tested, the actual
number of infected people might be a billion or two. Total confirmed
deaths worldwide are 30,438 which is a death rate of 4.5% Now since
most if not all of those deaths are confirmed COVID-19 cases but we
don't know what the actual denominator is, that 4.5% is probably greatly
on the high end and the actual case fatality rate is probably much
lower. Hopefully. FWIW 139,263 people are confirmed to have recovered,
so that is a recovery rate of almost 20.6%.

The United States now has 18% of the worldwide confirmed cases, again
that's going to be a significant underestimate as our testing rate is
abysmally low. If Trump hadn't eliminated the office responsible for
pandemic response we might have been more on top of this like South
Korea rather than Italy (which has had ten times as many cases). But he
is an idiot and a grotesque mockery of the office of President. At
least he hasn't fired Fauci- yet. The curve for the infection rate
continues to steepen in the US while Trump insists that the price of
getting help is kissing his ass.

Italy has so many deaths because with the socialized medicine that
people like you admire they do not have facilities to treat the 5% of
victims who get the worst symptoms and require ventilation for a week
or so. Italy is now to the point where they don't even use Death
Panels, they simply do not intubate anyone over 60. Any surprise that
they have such a high mortality rate?

Jeebus effing scheist, Tom, how ill informed are you? Italy had more
hospital beds per capita than the US at the start of the outbreak there.
They have access to the exact same technology and knowledge as any
hospital in America.

At least in Great Britain they have a private health care system
besides the socialized medicine. And while the private health care
system is competitive with that in the USA the socialized medicine is
precisely what you would expect - run down facilities and treatment
like Canada - so slow that you can expect to die before they can get
room for you for any serious condition. Because of this you can expect
30% of ICU patients in the US hospitals along the northern border to
be Canadians. And you can expect just about any Canadian with money to
have American commercial medical insurance.

And yet Americans go to Canada and the UK for medical treatment in those
socialized health care systems (and some Canadians and Brits come here,
especially those who can afford Mayo or Johns Hopkins, etc.). The
average hospital in America is no better than their counterparts there.
The same limitations for health care in rural areas exist although less
dramatically in some ways (my wife family's local hospital in Montana
doesn't even have one full time doctor on staff).

There is viral pneumonia as well as bacterial pneumonia. Influenza or
even the common cold can cause viral pneumonia and kill you. But the
government is going to save you from that isn't it? It must be
President Trump's fault that the flu kills 40,000 Americans each year
in a normal flu season despite 80% of the population being vaccinated
while in years where the vaccination misses the mark it can be double
that. So far this Covid-19 has killed some 24,000 people world wide
mostly in places with the most ghastly health facilities possible.
1053 in the USA.

30,475 COVID-19 deaths worldwide as of this typing, going up hourly,
with a case fatality rate of 4.5%. About 45 times the average death
rate for influenza (0.1% ten year average). You really seem to have
some trouble understanding just barely moderately difficult math, don't
you?

Have a date with virtual happy hour now, no time to deal with teh rest
of your wilfully ignorant blather.
